A wonderful weekend getting to know the new addition – Woody!
We arrived late Friday evening for our 1st night in the new 5ver – met Paul and Avril at their home before going off to the campsite where they’d parked Woody ready for us to get acquainted. Not the best weather as it was raining when we arrived – but soon snug and warm inside with all the gear we’d brought from London – unfortunately, I had to go to Hemel (on a Friday…?!) so didn’t supervise the packing – ahem – subsequently spent the weekend sans plates…and bowls…and sharp knives…
Much excitement on Saturday as we explored our new home on wheels – so much so that we forgot to arrange the insurance and by the time we’d remembered, the office was closed…which meant we couldn’t drive back to London until Monday – doh! Chris and Richard drove over from Dereham to see us – was great fun showing them around…Paul and Avril kindly invited us to their shooting club Christmas dinner at a local pub so tucking into a full roast with all the trimmings at 5 in the afternoon was a bonus! Full tummies and back to Woody to settle in for the evening watching Avatar with surround sound….
Sunday – hitching lessons…
Nervous at first – Andrew behind the wheel with me stretched over the side of the truck guiding him – have to hold onto the hitch bar as the truck slots onto the hitch – have to be careful not to get toes in the way of the wheel! Success 1st time – then just the plug for all the electrics and we were set to go…except we were going nowhere without insurance…
Monday saw us head off to London once we’d got the insurance sorted – I drove the car and followed Andrew down the motorway – have to say, the whole rig looks massive – but then saw trucks tugging big caravans and some were even longer – think its the height that makes Woody look so big…
Andrew went to the campsite and unhitched on his own – Woody successfully installed at Chertsey Camp site next to the Thames ready for us to move our stuff into…bring on the New Year!
